Preview: The Oxford And Cambridge Goat Race 2012

In "what promises to be the goat sporting event of the year" a goat named Cambridge will race a goat named Oxford at Spitalfields City farm on 7 April. We kid you not.

The caprine caper is now an annual event, taking place on the same day as a certain boat race. The spectacle has become so popular that it's now ticketed, and worth booking right now. The event also includes food, bars, live music, market stalls, arts and entertainment. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the farm.

If that's not enough goat for you, head to the other end of Spitalfields where you'll find Kenny Hunter's 3.5 metre-tall homage to the beardy beast.

The Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race 2012 takes place at Spitalfields City Farm, 7 April, 1.30-6pm (race 4pm). Adults £5.50, kids 50p. Follow them at @thegoatrace and on Facebook.
