A taste of what’s what in recent and upcoming London food and drink news:

Made in Camden and Sacred Gin will host a gin-tasting experience – Gin in Camden – tomorrow Friday the 5th at 7.30pm. For £15 and with guidance by Ian Hart, co-founder of Sacred Spirits (London’s smallest distillery and producer of Sacred Gin) attendees will taste, identify and discuss individual distillates, have the the opportunity to make their own gin and mix a gin and tonic or martini using the gin they made. Samples from MiC’s menu will be available throughout the evening as well. Book tickets here.

Borough Market will be open this Sunday the 7th from 11am to 4pm for a Raw and Unpeeled event focusing on “no hot food, just the finest summer produce from a selection of regular artisan producers and traders. The variety, quality and flavour of ingredients available at the moment will impress the most selective real food shopper. Stalls will be ranged around the Jubilee Market featuring Richard Hayward with clams and oysters, micro radishes from Sow Gourmet, Comte and charcuterie from The French Pantry, Calabrian delicacies from De Calabria and more.

The Blues Kitchen in Camden has launched a new “Carnivore Club” menu for meat lovers keen to sink their teeth into the likes of kangaroo burgers, crocodile steak, kudu steak, zebra fillet and bison steak with all cuts provided by Gamston Wood Farm of Borough Market. Every Tuesday evening throughout August, a different exotic meat menu will be offered with a side and a drink for £12 per person.

14 August will see a a celebration of Italian festival Ferragosto at classic cocktail lovers’ haven 69 Colebrooke Row near Angel. From 2pm till late (families welcome until 7pm), the party promises to be a “fantastic day for all the family with live gypsy jazz being played throughout the day, an Sicilian buffet, an ice cream bike and a variety of aperitivo drinks available”. Festivities will continue into the night with Italian films being projected outside. A “50s Italian rogues meets Coney island cool” dress code for the event is requested but not required.
