They turned it into an art gallery, obviously. This is Shoreditch after all.
Back in January, the former northern terminus of the East London line, Shoreditch station, was put up for auction. We speculated at the time what it might be turned into, and explored all the different ways that disused bits of London's railway infrastructure have been re-purposed.
Shoreditch station was eventually shifted for £665,000, blowing the doors off the £180,000 reserve price. As reported by Ian Visits and The Londoneer, it reopens this week as... an art gallery. Something the area (to put it mildly) isn't short of. The first show, Wow Now London, runs from 2-9 June.
The station also hosted a party by Mixmag magazine on the May bank holiday weekend last month. Watch the video below to see throngs of Nathan Barleys grooving on the very spot where mild-mannered commuters once awaited the 08.57 to New Cross Gate.
