The British Museum is one of 4 institutions competing for the Art Fund Prize 2011.
The museum is nominated for a project that didn’t even physically appear in its beautiful building. A History of the World in 100 Objects was a groundbreaking collaboration with the BBC with a 100 part radio series at its heart. The 15 minute programmes focused on objects from the BM’s collection, written and narrated by Neil MacGregor, Director of the British Museum. The British Museum’s rivals are The Polar Museum, University of Cambridge, The new Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway, Scotland and The Roman Baths Museum, Bath.
