Been waiting for Shepherd's Bush to get its own music festival? Well, here you go: Bushstock — taking place on 4 June — should be right up your street.
Conceived by Communion Records, Bushstock will feature bands playing across four venues throughout the day and evening, stretching from the ex-public toilets of Ginglik (don't let that put you off — it's a lovely venue) on the east side of Shepherd's Bush Common, all the way west to the Goldhawk pub via Shepherds Bar and the cosy St. Stephen's Church.
Most of the 30 promised acts are yet to be announced, but there's a definite folky edge to those revealed so far. Pick of the lot has to be Cloud Control. Hailing from Australia's Blue Mountains, their indie-folk sound and tight harmonies seem ready made for sunny days. This will probably be the first of many festival appearances for the four piece.
Also appearing are country soul group Treetop Flyers. With a bluesy sound, the melodies of these London-based Americans have drawn comparisons with Fleet Foxes and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Other acts include the mysterious and gentle Sarah Blasko, plus Tom Williams and the Boat — perhaps providing an antidote to light, twangy, summery sounds with their slightly darker twist on the post-Mumford alt-folk wave.
Bushstock takes place on 4 June at venues in Shepherd's Bush. More of the line-up should be revealed soon, but in the meantime, you can get a ticket covering access to all four venues for £27.50.
