Piccadilly Circus Sanyo Site Up For Sale

One of the most famous advertising slots in the world is up for grabs. Sanyo will not renew the contract for their Piccadilly Circus sign after 33 years of bus-sized branding.

As we found out on our behind-the-scenes tour, the Sanyo ad is the only remaining sign to use neon lighting, after TDK finally upgraded last year. Operators Land Securities will now replace it with an LED display, offering greater flexibility to Sanyo's successers.

The landmark of commerce rarely changes its advertisers. Coca Cola, for instance, have graced the space since 1955. Whoever books the space will get their logo seen by an estimated 56 million people a year. Maybe we should have a whip-round.
