Fox Found At Top Of Shard

This is the fellow.

The UK’s tallest building has received its first penthouse occupant: a fox. The vulpine squatter was spotted by a crane operator 72 floors above ground. It’s thought the animal gained access via a central stairwell, living off builder’s scraps for up to two weeks. Dubbed ‘Romeo’, the fox has since been released back into the London Bridge area after a couple of weeks in an animal sanctuary.

To help readers get a handle on this complex story, The Sun have a handy infographic showing what the Shard looks like, where the top of the Shard is, and a photo of a fox (further explained as ‘a lookalike for the animated hero of 2009 flick Fantastic Mr Fox’).

Surprised they didn’t say foxes are fleet as well.

Full marks to The Sun on this one. Not only is it the main story on the front page of today’s paper, but they’ve also given it the wonderful headline “Fantastic Vista Fox” on page 5.

The bit that’s nicely skipped over is that food on a construction site is a health and safety violation. If the food waste is attracting foxes, it’s probably also attracting rats.

Fantastic Mr Fox was produced by Fox, a Murdoch company. Perhaps that explains the constant references?

From the Sun story: “Famous foxes include Basil Brush, the Fantastic Mr Fox, movie star Megan Fox – and Hollywood film studio 20th Century Fox.”.

I’m a little bit concerned that some adults in this country have mistaken The Sun for a news source.

I love how some town folk mistake foxes for cuddly little pets that happen to live the streets.

These things are giant rats that carry disease and would happily take small child on if left it alone for a minute.

they should be exterminated on the spot, as you would a rat.

IM not being sensationalist, i happy to live in both city and countryside and have seen what country foxes can do to small animals and the disease they carry.

we all have read what city foxes can do.

what a Fox does is nothing compared to what man does to his fellow man.Good luck to the little guy he wont live long anyway they never do.

So a fox climbed about 900 feet up, just to eat scraps it could get more easily in the streets. Maybe I’m a cynic, but isn’t it more likely that someone took it up there to get photos for the tabs?
