New Londonist Site Now Live

As you can probably see, we’ve changed site over night. Welcome to Londonist 2.0. We’re now running the site on WordPress rather than Movable Type 4. This means we’ll have greater control over the look and layout of Londonist.

Having shifted around 20,000 articles, plus their images, tags and comments, we’re unsurprisingly finding a few bugs in these first hours. Please bear with us while we sort them out.

About the new look: our main mission for this weekend is to get the site working fully in WordPress. The design you see is temporary, and we’ll be tweaking and improving as the days go on. If there are any features you’d like to see, do let us know.

Just testing comments on our new site.

  • Ok

    hello London

I think I like the site. Not sure as I am a bit of a Luddite though and have to give it time to sink in.
But please, tell me, how do I get to Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto etc? The ‘ist’ sites, not the actual cities. There used to be a simple button on the side of your first page and it seems to have gone missing.

Just please get the rss sorted as i read londonist through google reader n it looks shocking at the moment ;)

i.e 1 line instead of full article

  • Anon

Unfortunately this new site only posts the first line or two to RSS readers. This will probably stop me reading.

Liking the new layout, much needed upgrade received :D

Much better than the old one!

Eww, can’t read Londonist through my RSS reader (google). If it carries on like this, it would probably mean 1 less reader.

I’ll ditto the RSS feed issue – much prefer to have full feeds and not summaries.

Clean layout, well done. Can we perhaps have back full abstracts for about 3-5 front page articles instead of just 22 word intros?

  • sm

    Much, much better.

Request: How about bringing back the option to read all posts in full (rather than the current summary view)

  • Annabel

I’m not entirely sure I like this new layout. I used to enjoy how you could read the latest article in full instead of these summaries – it made it all a lot easier. There is also no option for me to read ‘older posts’ as I was away the weekend and wanted to take this morning to catch up on my Londonist news. Maybe it will get better but so far… I’m not that happy :(

  • Meg

Looks good, but will we be able to read chronologically soon?? Like how the old site was…able to just scroll back through all posts, instead of having to choose a category…and please PLEASE bring back the ability to read the posts in full! :)

    RSS should be fixed, folks.

would much appreciate bigger pics – to save eye-straining to see the pics

I take it there was no way to map across user logins / IDs? I logged in through moveable type and quite liked being albe to search my comments and follow up…
