The BJP International Photography Award runs at the AOP Gallery from 1st - 6th November. In an event overburdened with awards, this one, curated by the British Journal of Photography, the world's oldest magazine dedicated to the medium, should be a cut above.
Among a strong selection of shows at Flowers East on Kingsland Road, Nadav Kander stands out. Winner of A Prix Pictet last year, Kander's latest documentary project focuses on China's Yangtze river, as the photographer follows it from mouth to source and records how the country's rapid industrialisation has changed it.
The regular Photomonth Photofair crowds Spitalfields Market on 9th October with over 100 stalls selling photographs, books, prints, and surrounding services. As always, it'll be hit and miss, but if you look long enough you're bound to find things of interest.
We may have, ahem, mentioned this one before: Thames Barrier to Teddington is a competition run by Londonist and Shoot Experience. Snappers were invited to submit their best river-themed photography and, though the deadline has closed, you can see the winners at Foyles gallery from 11th - 24th October.
