Huge iPhone Launch Queue At Westfield

A teeming gaggle of phone phreeks / students / the unemployed (or a mixture of all three) has gathered outside the Apple Store at Westfield this morning to await the launch of the new iPhone. Don't these people have jobs or families to attend to? The line is apparently snaking round the store and outside into the street.

Not all of them will get to walk away with a product that ever-exuberant Apple cheerleader Stephen Fry calls "an object of rare beauty"; rumour is that the store doesn't have enough handsets to dole out.

Many thanks to reader Ameen Amanat for the tip and the photograph.

Dang, I want to upgrade (still got original iPhone 1), but may have to wait awhile if everywhere's selling out. Anyone got any tips on O2 stores with plenty of stock left?
