Roy Hodgson, the Fulham manager who guided his side through one of the most astonishing seasons in their history, may see his reputation within SW6 dip ever so slightly if, as expected, he becomes Liverpool manager this week. The 62-year old has been tempted up north by the Merseysiders as the man to lead them into another year of underachievement, and Hodgson may feel that this is his last chance to manage (no offence intended to Fulham fans) a major club. The Craven Cottagers will get £2.5 million in compensation for their gaffer, who won the League Manager's Association award last season. Next man to step into the helm at Fulham? It could be serial blagger Sven-Goran Eriksson or Alan Curbishley.
