Carnaby Street continues to milk its swinging sixties notoriety this spring, celebrating 50 years since 1960 with Great British bunting and a special exhibition chronicling the rise, fall and resurgence of the classic shopping street over the last 5 decades.
The free exhibition is open now at 38 Carnaby Street. Whilst it majors on the tourist friendly, sexy and shoppingy themes of rock 'n' roll and fashion, a central timeline tells the story from a full 500 years ago when the area was a green field site with a well and a scarecrow before going gaga over the Beatles and mini skirts. Sounds worth a drop-in if you're taking advantage of this beautiful sunshine to do a spot of shopping or promenade the length of the legendary street at lunchtime.
