Our Tap Water Stinks, Say Walthamstow Residents

Thames Water are investigating claims of brackish tap water in north-east London. Three hundred residents of the Walthamstow area have complained about the noisome supply, whose taste and aroma are described as intermittently 'foul' and 'gone off'. The cause remains a mystery (ill-informed speculation in the comments, please), but the company has temporarily changed its supply from the River Lea to the Thames.
