Theatre Preview: One Man Lord of the Rings @ Richmond Theatre

0121_onemanlotr.jpg Every so often we hear about a new play that's just too nuts to ignore. And so we share it with you lovely readers. The One Man Lord Of The Rings is one such show.

The blurb goes: "100,000 characters. Nine companions. Three masterworks. One Man to do it all." They've even got a quote of recommendation from Gandalf himself: "If you liked The Lord of the Rings trilogy", says Sir Ian McKellen, "you'll love Charlie Ross' version - and if you didn't, well, at least his is shorter."

If anyone's going to get through The Lord of the Rings single handed, Ross is probably the person to do it. His debut show, One Man Star Wars Trilogy, was a surprise sell-out hit at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This time, he's recreating Middle Earth with nothing more than a pair of elbow pads, and a bit of imagination.

The One Man Lord of the Rings plays at the Richmond Theatre on 3 April. See the Richmond Theatre website for more information.
