Live Music Preview: OK Go @ Shepherd's Bush Empire

You'll probably remember OK Go for their original, inventive use of treadmills in the Here It Goes Again video. Well, these four cheeky chappies from Chicago are back and will be paying a visit to the Shepherd's Bush Empire on 13 January in support of their third album, out next week.

We're expecting the usual combination of new material and catchy older tracks from the geek-rock quartet, although a re-enactment of the treadmill stunt might be too much to hope for. After a quick listen to a couple of the new songs, we're happy to report they seem moodier, scratchier and more laid back than their previous up-tempo, summery material. They've toned down the guitar-rock and added extra layers of sound, but they're still recognisably OK Go, so no worries there. With a reputation for energetic live shows and a fun-filled image to live up to (just think of those zany treadmill antics), this could be just the thing for a cold January night.Support will be ably provided by alt-rockers Wave Machines, who we recommend seeing if only to check out their unusual face wear and peculiar instruments.OK Go play the Shepherd's Bush Empire on 13 January. Tickets are £13.50 and available now. (Image / LK. Photo under a Creative Commons Attribution licence.)
