Train Strike Update: Crisis Talks Today

August 14th update: The strike has been called off

Liverpool Street station could be a ghost town for the third week running if crisis talks break down again. But wait! This time it’s worse: the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) are pitching in with Aslef and the RMT for a 48-hour strike over pay and conditions. Last week was bad enough with Central Line delays adding to commuters’ misery on Friday, but if talks break down this week, we face a complete absence of any National Express services. For those of you going on holiday, that includes the Stansted Express this time too. Meanwhile, Bob Crow is trotting out his standard ‘workers are angry’ spiel; we think that thousands of thwarted holidaymakers and commuters probably hold the monopoly on anger over the continued travel disruption.
