Muswell Hill Blocks BT Broadband

Muswell_Hill_Broadway.jpg Muswell Hill's provided more ammunition for it being voted the most NIMBYish place in London / the UK / world after a resident's association stopped BT installing cabinets for its fibre optic super fast broadband trial. The 1.8m tall units are "unsightly and are taller than most garden walls", and apparently block the pavements for the thousands of buggies in this nappy valley. But other denizens of the Kings Avenue conservation area are miffed that they're missing out on a free internet upgrade. BT insist they'll be back; they may need to prepare to brave a running battle between pitchfork-and-flaming-torch wielding conservators and affronted internet nerds. (Image / satguru)
