Head down to Rivington Street in Shoreditch this Sunday evening, where Cargo hosts the third annual tribute to hip-hop producer, musician, and ingenue of indie-rap, J-Dilla. James Yancey, as his accountant knew him, made beats for the likes of De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Erykah Badu, Tribe, Janet Jackson and Common, alongside his own critically revered projects. Since his death in 2006 from Lupus, Dilla's popularity has soared, his music reaching new fans and inspiring the kind of reverent worship you're likely to see at Cargo on Sunday. Entry is via donation (minumum £5), and as it's usually a packed crowd, best get there early.
