Back To Work: So, What Did You Miss?

Congratulations on making it back to work on this snowy, January morning. Here's hoping you escaped commuter misery and managed to make your very healthy detox packed lunch and remember your gym kit, despite the cold snap teasing your extremities. You've probably got some catching up to do, post holidays, so here's a helping hand for what you've missed on Londonist the past couple of weeks.

For more, browse our most popular entries in that panel in the sidebar or click through our archives using the links up top. If you haven't already, keep up with every Londonist post by subscribing to our RSS feed, in the sidebar over there. And welcome back, folks!

I like the updated design on the site. The image boxes at top with text are a nice touch. The Home News etc. buttons at top are really useful. Tight and organized. Easy to view info and navigate.
I still wish that when I click on links they would open in a new window.
New look new year very nice.

Thanks tf - we really do value your feedback. Sorry we can't accommodate your request about opening links in new windows but glad you like the new top stuff.

I think I'm right in saying that you can configure most browsers (Firefox, IE, Safari, etc.) to open links in new windows, if that's what you want.

Clicked links on other sites automatically open in another tab/window but links on Londonist always open in the same window.
I am on a MAC and using FireFox. In the prefs on FF the choices are either open in new tab or new window. I have tab selected. Londonist does it's own thing. Suggestions are appreciated.
Another oddity is that when I sign in to comment all the images on the page associated with articles that were small get large. Interesting but not a problem.

Oh, I didn't mention, now I see the FULL and SUMMARY options up there, something with my signing in changes it, honest I didn't do anything. I mouse over it and it's fussy. Unless this is helpful I'll stop commenting.

This is helpful, tf! Although, I'm not sure what you mean about the full/summary views.

The top nav....Home thru Top Users, ending with Summary/Full, a drop down menu.
My confusion, what does full/summary mean, or how is it used?

Ah right. You have a choice how to view your Londonist homepage. You can either have full view - where you see all posts in their entirety. Or you can have summary view - with snippets of each post that you can choose to click through and read. Apart from the top post, which will always be full. Hope that helps!

Also, with opening links in a new window, can you right click and open in new tab/window? Or ctrl/cmd click and similar?

Yes! grrr on me, you're brilliant, brand me the lazy MAC user that doesn't use the 'Control button'. Hold down control and select to open in new tab/window, duh. Click and complain, Thanks.
