Boris Johnson sent Londoners a New Year message last night, projected 200ft onto a wall on the South Bank. Breaking with Tory tradition he seemed to back public spending projects to get through the recession… while quoting ‘Apocalypse Now’. Maybe invoking images of fiery hell isn’t the best move at the moment, poised as we are on the brink of economic Armageddon. Oh well. Fans of the Mayor’s turn of phrase can watch him quote Coppola and even create a new word (we think it’s “gloomadonpoppers”).
