Apologies to all the cabbies out there. This month we’re going south of the river to Battersea – and a lovely, lovely road called Northcote. Now, now, before you start throwing your arms in the air with a Jigsaw this and a Starbucks that, there are lots of Unchained gems in Northcote Road too. There’s also a “howdy neighbour” atmosphere with a bunch of friendly people that wave and shout across the road to each other (ahhh). And if you don’t try to catch a cab, it’s actually uber easy to get to. A hop and skip from Clapham Junction and you’re there.
La Cuisinière – the most tasty kitchen stuff and gadgets. And La Cuisinière Too (a few shops down) will make your table simply stunning darling
Philglas & Swiggot – gorgeous old-school charm with handwritten wine labels on the shelves.
Hamish Johnston Fine Cheeses – makes you pity the vegans so, so much
Salvatore Maggiulli – lovely little Italian food shop that would make mamma go “mamma mia”.
The Hive Honey Shop – truly unique shop with no end of imagination applied to the sweet stuff.
The Stem and Petal co. – a beautiful, crisp white heaven-scented world of flowers
Opus Shoes – because your tootsies are worth it.
Pretty Pregnant – always good to find maternity shops that don’t make your bump look like a flower patch. Very stylish.
Q.T. Toys – one of the oldest shops in Northcote Road, a real establishment.
The Paint House – a one-stop home makeover shop with expert advice to boot.
A Dove and Son – free range and organic meat from this family businesses.
Iris – great selection of impressive labels and lesser-known talents for the budding fashionista in us all.
Lily – run by Susie, possibly the loveliest lady in Northcote Road (and the competition is tough).
Northcote Music – an old-school music shop with great stuff and loads of charm
