Withnail & I (Film4, 21:00-23:05) Enjoy the squalor of 1960s London in this classic film, which is one of our favourites featuring our fair city. Camden’s never looked as appealing as it did with Richard E Grant and Paul McGann.

Stephen Hawking: Master of the Universe (Channel 4, 21:00-22:00) He lived in London until he was 8, so we feel confident calling Stephen Hawking a Londoner of sorts. Hawking is a truly impressive person, and this look at his life looks fascinating. And it’ll be sure to make you feel slightly inferior. Sure, you may win the pub quiz every week, but have you ever baffled the world with your theories on black holes?

Wednesday 5 March
Coleen’s Real Women (ITV2, 20:00-21:00) Coleen McColoughlin takes to the streets of London to find real women who are pretty enough to model for New Woman magazine. Clearly, being famous for being the girlfriend of a footballer and being relatively pretty qualifies you to be a fashion scout. Our fascination for the fact that McColoughlin has managed to make a career out of dating her famous boyfriend is undiminished. We also feel her first name should have two L’s in it, but that’s not really relevant here.

Thursday 6 March
Grimebusters (ITV1, 23:40-00:10) Specialist clean-up teams tackle the messes we, the messy public, leave behind us. This week, they take on an unexplained death in North London, the carnage after the London Marathon, and perhaps the greatest challenge of them all – people urinating in the street in Soho. Oh, the glamour!

Sunday 9 March
Crufts 2008 (BBC2, 19:00-21:00) Sure, it takes place in Birmingham rather than London, but we know you wouldn’t want to miss the final of Crufts. If you’ve got a big weekend planned, this should be the perfect way to wind down. Have a nice cup of tea and find out which adorable dog wins Best In Show. Delightful!
