It's officially Spring and by Pisces it's lovely out there in the sunshine. Crocuses have been spotted in Highbury Fields so our biggest recommendation for expenditure light trips this week is get to the parks and into the gardens and witness the miracles of the changing seasons. If you're in need of more artificial stimulation, however, and are squirrelling all your spare cash into your ISA before the end of the tax year then here's your weekly selection of some cash light activities worth indulging in round town.

Monday: If you're prepared to get up early and queue you could be one of 300 fortunate fans that will get to watch Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds instore at HMV Oxford Street from 6pm. If you fail to get a wristband though you can get along to Rough Trade after work to see the Opiates playing instore at Brick Lane. Email to bag a place.

Tuesday: RADA's laying on free cabaret in the foyer with staff and students "giving their all" tonight from 7.30pm. Whilst the Dana Centre's hosting interactive theatre where corporate whoredom meets ethics and recycling. The Recycled Meeting invites you to influence the outcome and is free from 7pm but do email ahead to book your place.

Wednesday: So it was St David's Day on Saturday and St Patrick's mighty Guinness fest is coming up in a couple of weeks so, tonight, we think you should go Scottish Country Dancing at International Student House, Great Portland Street. John is your teacher from 8pm.

Thursday: Celebrate the start of the EAST festival at the Museum in Docklands with late opening till 9pm featuring music from the London Gay Men's Chorus followed by ace psychogeograper, author and London legend Iain Sinclair in conversation with Sara Wajid of untoldlondon with his take on East London. It's free and it's going to be fabulous. However, if you can't make it to Docklands you could try its sister, the Museum of London at Barbican, which will be exploring the romance of East London and laying on some jazz courtesy of the famous Vortex jazz club.

Friday: Late at Tate Britain has lovely, lovely Michael Palin in conversation about Camden Town from 6.30pm. Bag your ticket from 6pm. Afterwards, catch Stephen Smith's talk: From Roundhouse to Winehouse: A Vulgar History of Camden then witness the only living RnB music hall star Ida Barr roaming the Collection displays with her beat box. Totally free and open till 10pm.

Saturday: The Birds Eye View Film Festival kicks off this week, hand in hand with International Women's Week. Most events in the film fest cost a bit but today, there is a totally free Games Tournament at the ICA between 3-6pm. Ladies are invited to go and play Centipede on the original ATARI console, regarded as the first arcade game created by a woman, Dona Bailey, who programmed the game along with Ed Logg. There will also be a Wii and PS3, the opportunity to win a Nintendo DS and the opportunity to hang out in the ICA bar for no pee.

Sunday: Go Sunday clubbing at the Notting Hill Arts Club from 4pm till 1am with Uptown Boogiedown free before 6pm. Not only will there be 21st Century Deep House to help you through you weekend hangover but live painting from someone jetted in from Chicago.

Or, you could stay in and sharpen your knives.
