Extra, Extra

- It’s a common myth that Londoners get the best of everything: we don’t. Only 65% of the capital’s parents are getting their first choice of school for their sprogs. As opposed to 87% elsewhere.
- Neasden’s glorious Hindu temple wins the inaugural Pride of Place award.
- Rada best look to its laurels as a new acting school is coming to town. A Bollywood academy is to open in Ealing.
- Padded lamp-posts are being trialed in Brick Lane to cut down on the number of texting and walking injuries. Londonist thinks this might be an early April Fools.

That padded lamp-post story sounds sketchy, not least because the initiative is sponsored by the text inquiries service 118 118. Somehow I'm envisioning the padding doubling as a bit of convenient advertising space.

that said, I actually have walked into lamposts while texting... and i actually got hit by a car while leaving a voicemail. Could 118 118 sponsor me, maybe?
