E4 Want Your Flying Machines

designs_popup.jpg
If you're currently on a quiet holiday, suffering from a non-debilitating but house-binding condition or idling away your notice period doing as little work as possible, here's a challenge: you have until Saturday to design a flying machine to launch off a 6m high platform and plunge into the Serpentine for those wacky chaps at E4 who've been given a place in this year's Red Bull Flugtag.

As the current UK champ Tim Simpson says "Wings are Good" when considering your design but aerodynamics and advanced knowledge of engineering really aren't required. You and it are going off the platform and straight into the lake. Creativity and daft costume will get you far. Well, no, not far. But noticed, certainly.

Your design must be branded E4 and reflect their ethos of "marvellous" and "purple". Other than that, it's down to your own warped mind. Get top tips here, read the terms and conditions here and upload your masterpiece here. Oh, and practice swimming 100m please.

The 2nd Red Bull Flugtag takes place on Saturday June 7 from 1pm at the Serpentine, Hyde Park. We'll be watching.

...idling away your notice period doing as little work as possible...

Well, you convinced me. Just let me find my Crayola set and glitter glue and I'll sketch a design this afternoon.
