Weekend Round-Up

Here’s what we learned this weekend, whilst you were drawing up your Christmas card lists (or crossing people off them):

• It’s been a bad weekend for London’s performers, with even the ROH being dissed, and one band getting the worst review this Londonista has ever seen.
• But it has been a great couple of days for pussy cats, with three of them being rescued from a derelict flat, and another being turned into a six million dollar cat…
• We’ve seen abuse of the racial variety – Bollywood actors claim to have suffered whilst filming in Southall (?), and abuse of the system variety, with half of Kingston’s disabled badge holders being exposed as frauds (shame on them).
• And we’ve learned that the Thames Barrier is getting a bit of use at the mo, whilst dear old Waterloo has got people devising new uses for its redundant bits.

And here’s what we think we’ll be writing about on Londonist this week:

• Ian Blair quietly announces that he’s tired and will retire after Christmas;
  
• Plans are announced to buy up the redundant Waterloo platforms and turn them into a Harry Potter theme park;
  
• Queen of the Jungle? Biggins Baby….
  
• Queen of the dance floor? Alesha Dixon….
  
• And then we might even start to get just a teensy bit festive…
