Panto Preview #3: Christmas Down The Cut

Mince pies are proliferating on supermarket shelves people. It really is time to book your festive entertainment. I mean, we told you back in August about Cinderella at The Old Vic. Stephen Fry's "cheekily updated" script, Pauline Collins' Fairy Godmother and Sandi Toksvig's narrator promise to make this a cracking, cross dressing, cake filled chuckle fest in a veritable grande dame of a venue. Our advice is to try and get as close to the stage as possible, though, as panto works best in your face.

However, if you're after something just a little more cerebral and alternative the Young Vic just down The Cut is staging a version of The Christmas Carol but, to music, and:

This time Scrooge is a woman, the setting is today’s South Africa and the past is life under the apartheid regime

Ikrismas Kherol comes from the Rugby World Cup winning nation but hopefully by 20 November, we'll be over it.

Book here for Cinderella at The Old Vic which runs from 4 December to 20 January. Get tickets here for A Christmas Carol at The Young Vic playing from 20 November to 19 January.
