City Types Go Running To Work Off Excess Bonuses

London's running schedule is hotting up next month. Alongside the capital's tussle with Liverpool and Glasgow on the morning of Sunday 3 June, workers in The City and Docklands have their own chances to nip out, buy some emergency trainers and get some kilometres under their belts (which might be straining if they've been investing their inflated xmas bonuses in too much rich food and Krug).

First up we have the Canary Wharf Jog on the evening of Wednesday 6 June. An 8-lap circuit kicking off from Canada Square Park means that runners can aim for anywhere between 1.25km and 10km (about 6 miles). Money raised goes to the British Heart Foundation, which might end up finding a cure for heart trouble caused by all that rich food.

The very next day, action transfers westwards for the Square Mile Run, with runners setting off in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral at a similarly convenient after-work time. Organisers prefer imperial measurement, so this race is 3.5 miles long (around 5.5km). Runners will raise funds for Crisis, which of course may help remove those pesky homeless people that so annoy bankers en route to work.

All events are now open for online registration, and will remain so until much nearer raceday. As with most runs there should be registration on the day if there's space. Tell us in the comments section if you're running. Our resident Londonist runner will review the races afterwards to see how the city workers do.
