Ticket-alert : And the first people to play Wembley are...

Bugger the football, the only thing the music kids here at Londonist are bothered about at Wembley is when it will be ready for gigs. Bon Jovi, Take That, and Robbie Williams were all shunted off to Milton Keynes Bowl when the stadium failed to open in time for their planned concerts over the summer, but now another band are staking a claim that they will be the first people to play at Wembley and by, gosh, it's going to be a good one.

Yup, old faithful, masters of the live gig Muse are lining up to play to 75,000 people at the finished stadium on June 16th 2007. After an arena tour this year, Wembley will be a major step up in venue size for the band, despite them headlining various festivals over the years. Lead singer Matt Bellamy confidently stated, "It feels right for us to play this venue. We're ready for this kind of thing." Ooh, check you.

Tickets go on sale this friday at 9am. Hooray!

Glad you're pleased.

However you may wish to note that they are the first band to announce, not necessarily the first to play...
