We've said before London is great for holy festivals. This weekend's holy Big One is Vaisakhi, the Sikh New Year celebration that is the holiest day of the Sikh calendar.

Vaisakhi is traditionally marked by Sikhs with continuous reading of the Sikh Scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, over three days, followed by recitation of sacred hymns. The service ends with a final prayer for the good and well-being of the whole of humanity, and the serving of sacramental food.

From 11.30am on Sunday, there will be prayers, messages for peace, performances and religious ceremonies in Trafalgar Square and the rest of the day's programme looks like this:

1.30am Morning programme including religious ceremony, prayers and performances

1.30pm Classical music

2.00pm Sunrise Radio, with live music, dance, guest artists and DJs

3.00pm Speeches and awards

3.30pm Sunrise Radio, with live music, dance, guest artists and DJs

5.00pm Event ends

Blessed food - langar - will be availble between 1.30pm and 3.00pm. This event is free and everyone is welcome.
