Camden Crawl Line Up Announced

camden.jpg

And so the names start to fall into place, although the placing of names to places won’t fully be in place until the day. Between now and then you’ll just have to hope fortune smiles on you and the walks are short, the drinks shorter. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, it’s this:

XFM’s Camden Crawl takes place on April 20th, where you can wander around various venues scattered between the Barfly and Koko, taking in any one of a ton of bands, some old, some new, some borrowed, some blue, hoping to catch the next great thing and then finding out that unfortunately it’s Hard Fi. The full list of who is playing where and when will not be available until the day when you sawp your ticket for a funky access all venues wristband. Then it’s a lottery as to what bands clash, how far you have to walk between venues, whether they might be full and how soon you have to leave one place to catch the Futureheads headlinging in another (which they are).

To be honest, it’s all a great deal of fun if you view the event as some kind of musical russian roulette, with random drug dealers thrown in to add local colour. We’ll leave the comments open for you to nominate the coffee revels or the strawberry opal fruits in this batch:

Howling Bells well worth a look in. I’m sure there used to be a law about aussie music being rubbish, but they seem to be getting the hang of it these days. Bring back Kylie And jase I say!!

The only one I’ve heard of is The Pipettes, and that’s just because all the other Londonistas are obsessed with them! (Not you, Mike.) I suck at being cool. :(

    Must sees on the list:
Dogs, (highly underrated in my opinion)
Elle Milano (rather good really, but i havent seen them live)
GoodBooks (he died at passchendaele, fighting for the cause, in the war to end all wars)
Guillemots (very very very good – crazy front man)
The Holloways (saw them immediately after seeing Franz and they were at least 13 times better. the fun they have playing their material just eminates all over the crowd – see them deffo)
The Pippettes (three good looking girls, polka dots, dance routines, good fun pop – what more could you ask for??)

Bands you could see if none of the above are on at the same time:
    Spinto Band,
    Wolfmother,
    Cazals,
    Lethal Bizzle
(only rap/garage gig ive ever been to – had a great time, but maybe not for everyone)

    Bands to avoid:
    Paddingtons
    iForward Russia!
