The BBC are reporting that Westminster's resident protestor, Brian Haw, is to stand as an independent election candidate for the for the Cities of London and Westminster seat.

Brian will be up against the usual suspects as well as David Harris of Veritas, Jillian McLachlan from the Christian Peoples Alliance and Tristan Smith of the Greens.

It's a pretty solid Tory constituency, but current MP Mark Field only has a majority of just fewer than 5,000, so there's always a chance.

You can read more about Brian Haw here, and rest assured Londonist will be seeking an interview with the man himself before May 5th.

Bless. I love it when people who disagree with the government protest and run for public office. Kind of why despite the flawed case in the build up I support the invasion.

On the other hand, I definitely support this guy's right to protest outside of Parliament.
