And The Winner Is...

Never mind Google.

Move over The Times.

Forget about it BMW.

This year's best April Fools joke (as far as we're concerned) comes from the, all-too-frequently-overlooked Borehamwood & Elstree Times who went with a story headlined

Darth Vader statue to go up in town centre

The story of a "controversial monument made of black carbonite," which will be situated on the Brook Road roundabout outside Elstree Studios "where the first Star Wars trilogy was filmed," has apparently outraged local residents.

The statue, which will hold a glowing pink lightsaber, is currently being completed by sculptor Dave Prowse at an undisclosed location.

Dave Prowse you say? Hmm.

But what about "Kenneth Baker" from the group Proud Residents Against Nonsensical Carbonite Statue? What does he have to say?

"This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard. Not only are we going to have an enormous statue, which will distract drivers, we will be celebrating evil. Darth Vader was the intergalactic equivalent of Hitler. Is that what we want our town to be associated with?"

Borehamwood & Elstree Times, we salute you.
