If You Suspect It Report It. Maybe.

A new anti-terror campaign was launched across London today "to encourage the public to be vigilant and to contact police with any suspicions". New posters should already be up showing an abandoned backpack with the warning:

TWO WAYS TO FIND OUT IF IT'S SUSPICIOUS:

CALL 999

THE OTHER DOESN'T BEAR THINKING ABOUT

Unfortunately it seems that London Underground staff may have a third option for dealing with the occasional suspected terror device. Shout at the person reporting the package for delaying the train and then criticise the rest of the passengers for not dealing with the problem themselves.

This is exactly what happened last week at Bank according to a story over on This Is London.

Let's hope that the Underground staff responsible are taught to read before the end of the month and realise that the small delay of having to listen to passengers may well avoid the bigger delay of having to clear train wreckage and body parts off the Northern Line.
