There are a lot of reasons to like Harold Pinter.
He's no fan of the Bush administration and thinks Tony Blair a
"deluded idiot" for taking the UK forces into Iraq but the main one is that he isn't Andrew Motion.
Londonist would, however, like to see the two of them face off in a poetry slam , 8 MILE-style, with Guardian readers bouncing up and down in front of the stage to the iambic pentameter.
But while we can't guarantee that happening in the near future you may be interested to learn that Pinter will be reading from his work and chatting to author Blake Morrison at Goldsmiths next month.
The event will be the latest in the Richard Hoggart Lecture Series
which in the past has hosted Martin Amis, Doris Lessing, Hanif
Kureishi and Will Self.

Personally we're indebted to Pinter for bringing about the sight of Special Agent Dale Cooper and Captain Jean Luc Picard arguing over a pair of shoes a year or so ago in New York, when we were lucky enough to see Kyle MacLachlan and Patrick Stewart in The Caretaker.
