There are few better pubs for people watching than The Northcote. You can spend hours gazing out of the huge windows onto the busy crossroads of the A3 and Northcote Road.

What's inside is pretty good, too. This is a Young's pub, so you can pretty much guarantee comfort, fine food and a decent if narrow drinks list. As with all the company's venues, this is a very middle-class affair. We counted three buggies and two well-groomed dogs among the clientele on a recent (Tuesday evening) visit. The interior hasn't changed much from its days as a Geronimo inn, and they've managed to hold on to the late opening times too (1am on Friday and Saturday).

There ale choice is pretty disappointing, to be honest. Just the familiar Young's ales, with the usual Proper Job hanger-on-er-er.
The main room is a fairly typical modern pub look, with leather-back chairs, a blue-green colour scheme and a tarnished painting of the Duke of Wellington over the (digital) fireplace. A second room upstairs is available for hire.
