This pub was voted one of the best in Hackney by Londonist readers.
Recently revamped, the tiny Gun is one of the coolest bars to hang out in Hackney right now. From the outside, it looks every inch the upstanding Edwardian corner house, with its period Whitbread signage still intact. Inside, it somehow manages to feel both traditional and modern, with neon signs and mirrors encircling the bar. There's little by way of cask ale here, but a fine selection of chilled kegs earned this bar a place in Des de Moor's recent masterpiece of pub reviewing. We haven't tried the food, but we hear from a regular that it's top notch. The recent addition of a roof terrace adds to the offering at an already excellent watering hole. All is well on Well Street.
