Counting House

Counting House

Part of our Best Pubs in London microsite. See if your local is listed.

One of the City's several Victorian banking halls turned into pubs. The Counting House is a twin for the Old Bank of England on Fleet Street, with its high ceiling, ornate decoration, island bar and a desirable mezzanine level. Actually, if you're seated on the mezzanine, you can't really see much of the pub, apart from the preposterously grand skylight, but do go and take a look anyway.

The Counting House pub in Cornhill

This is a Fuller's house, so sells all the usual range to a clientele consisting mostly of financial types and their clients. If you like what you see, head on out the back door, shimmy along the passageway, and you'll find yourself outside the even grander Crosse Keys on Gracechurch Street.
