The Draft House's miniature empire continues to expand, with this new-build bar in Old Street. Actually, it's hidden away in an alley, a little behind Old Street roundabout.

Given the ever-trendy reputation this part of town enjoys, there are surprisingly few places with a decent selection of quality ales. Draft House has chosen to open just metres from one of the few exceptions, the wonderful Old Fountain.

While the fountain works its magic through an ever-changing line-up of casks, Draft House is more about keg delivery. This branch also has a ready supply of Pilsner Urquell tank beer, if that's your thing.

The decor's pleasing enough. Big 12-seater tables reign supreme on the lower floor — perfect for office gatherings. The mezzanine bar level is a little more intimate, with soft furnishings inspired by tube moquettes. The toilets continue the theme. The gents is tiled like Covent Garden station, complete with convex mirrors.

There's plenty of choice at the bar and the staff are also happy to do table service. Good grub, too, with US diner-style burgers and bites.
