This pub was editorially chosen for inclusion by Londonist because of its fine interior.
As football pubs go, the Boleyn (pronounced here like bowling without the 'g') isn't playing a boring defensive game. This gorgeous old building sprawls back, back and further back into a series of rooms that wouldn't look out of place in a stately home, culminating in the grandiose former billiard room at the back (now occupied by a diminutive pool table). It'll look stately, that is, if you come on a quiet weekday afternoon. When Saturday comes and the Hammers are at home, matters will be very different. The drinks choice is geared up to the lager-drinking sports fan stereotype. Ale drinkers still get a couple of choices, but one was off on our visit. But really, this places is all about the football.
