You wouldn't think it, but nestled between Sutton and Coulsdon on the edge of London sit 25 acres of lavender fields. They don't look as colourful as this all year round — and are only open to the public June-September — but when they are in bloom, it's hard to believe that they're in London at all.
Even (well-behaved) dogs are welcome to go and live out their meadow-dwelling dreams among the plants and bees. It certainly beats rush hour on the Central line.
