Bag A Bargain At South London's Utterly Lovely East Street Market

In an age of new-fangled pop ups, shopping trends and eye-watering prices, it's something of a miracle that East Street Market remains unspoilt. Street trading has taken place in the Walworth area since the 16th century — East Street Market itself dates back to 1880 — and its seeming immunity to the surrounding gentrification makes this south London gem a rare breed indeed.

Pick up a punnet of plums, a sparkly set of earrings, clothing, fish, electronics, kitchenware... the list goes on. In need of a colander near Elephant and Castle? This is the place to go. Friendly, local and jam-packed with all manner of eclectic bargains, East Street Market is as old school as they come. And we love it.

You can find East Street Market at East Street, Walworth Road, SE17 1EL. Open Tuesday-Sunday.
