For the first time in a decade, Stansted is running transatlantic flights — and the prices look pretty attractive too.
Low-fare Nordic airline Primera Air is offering one-way fares from Stansted to New York City from £149.
Later in the summer, the airline will also offer routes from Stansted to Boston (from £149 one-way), Toronto (£149) and Washington DC (£199).
And now for the caveat: although Primera Air scores an OK three-out-of-five on TripAdvisor, its TrustPilot reviews are all-out shocking: one-star-out-of-five, from 276 reviews at the time of publishing. One reviewer bluntly states: "You have completely ruined my first trip to NY."
Time will tell if passengers on a shoestring are willing to make potential travel compromises, in exchange for thriftier flights. Such compromise may well also extend to taking the Stansted Express; it scores a marginally better two stars on TrustPilot.
