Kentish Town tube station should've reopened by now.

The Northern line station was closed for upgrades — chiefly to replace its old escalators — on 26 June 2023, with TfL saying this would take "up to one year" to complete.

But one year and one month later, TfL now says that tube services will not stop at Kentish Town until the end of 2024. Explains TfL:

While carrying out the planned improvements, we found that we need to do further complex and time-consuming repairs. We now expect to be able to re-open the station at the end of 2024.

We are looking at all possible options to reopen the station as quickly as possible without compromising the safety of our customers and colleagues. This includes looking at whether we can safely reopen the station while some works continue safely behind hoardings.

Kentish Town's mainline station is not affected by the closures, however the closure still disrupts the journeys of many passengers who use Thameslink; it's a popular interchange for people living in places like Hendon, Mill Hill, Borehamwood and St Albans.

For more information on alternative routes while the disruption continues, visit the TfL website.
