Watch Bright Minds Battle It Out Against The Clock At The UK Home Of Engineering

This is a sponsored article on behalf of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

What if we told you that you could get clued up on incredible feats of civil engineering in just 200 seconds? Ambitious, right? But totally possible... if the Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) Pitch 200 entrants do their job properly, that is.

The Institution of Civil Engineers' flagship competition is back to pit bright minds against each other — and the clock. And you're invited to watch the Dragons' Den-esque action unfold for free at the London and South East England regional heat next month.

Each up-and-coming engineer at the regional heat has just 200 seconds to showcase their work in the most creative and unconventional way possible. Previous presentations have compared engineering to the human body, rocky road, and even an arrow's bow, with subjects ranging from historical engineering, to the infrastructure projects of tomorrow.

Basically, it's a brilliant way to get to grips with the nuts and bolts of how things work in a high octane setting. You'll even get the chance to pick the presenters' brains yourself by submitting questions during the pitches. Just remember to play nice — these regional finalists will definitely be feeling the pressure to impress, with civil engineer Brittany Harris, the  CEO & co-founder of Qualis Flow and ICE superhero ‘Water Woman’ helming the event.

The event takes place at ICE's glamorous Edwardian headquarters at One Great George Street, otherwise known as the UK home of engineering. Don't miss out on the chance to discover the many ways in which civil engineering touches our lives while admiring an architectural marvel.
