Saunas are all the rage in London right now, what with the community saunas in Hackney and Stratford — and now, a three-week pop-up at King's Cross.
Slow Motion Sauna is in Lewis Cubitt Square in King's Cross from 18 January-11 February 2024. Described as a 'Scandinavian-inspired wild spa experience', it features two mobile saunas (one Lithuanian wood-fired, the other electric), plus three plunge pools to give you a warming/bracing rush. Finish off with an exfoliating salt scrub and shower, and you'll be ready to face the onslaught of London life, for — well — at least another 90 mins.
The brainchild of DJ and wellness guru Rob da Bank and his wife Josie, Slow Motion Sauna is part of King's Cross' Mind Your Brain season, which urges people to prioritise their mental health. Something else that's good for the mind; the sessions are altogether thrifty — £6 for an hour (that's less than a pint these days). If you book as a group, they'll try to keep you together as best they can, but otherwise, just embrace the communal spirit of the sauna — which is all part of its wellness properties, after all.
