Dine Beneath Chandeliers At This Ravishing Regency Afternoon Tea

This is a sponsored article on behalf of The Lane.

Calling all debutantes, handsome heirs and society beauties. There's a new afternoon tea in town — and it's quite the ravishing affair.

Regency Afternoon Tea is served in the Grand Saloon at The Lane, an all-day entertainment and dining destination at the historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

The Grand Saloon itself is a rather sumptuous setting, fit for members of high society. With dazzling chandeliers, ornate ceilings, beautiful furnishings, and fine art, it's definitely somewhere to be seen this social season.

And once you've finished gawping at your surroundings, there's the spectacular food. The Regency Afternoon Tea menu was designed by east London 'Queen of Cakes' Lily Vanilli, whose Columbia Road bakery never fails to attract excited crowds.

Now she's brought her baking prowess to the West End, creating a decadent menu featuring opulent tiered cakes, delicious fancies and savoury treats.

Tuck into Lily Vanilli's signature puff pastry sausage roll made with Cornish sausage meat, roast bacon lardons and a cider vinegar deglaze, along with other savoury bites.

After, there are warm scones served with salted whipped butter, cream and jam. The denouement of this Regency feast features sweet treats such as pink lemonade tart with elderflower jelly; sticky toffee pudding with custard and salt caramel; and a rich dark chocolate sponge cake. How splendid!

If you've still got room — and we're fairly excited about this bit — a trolley roams the Grand Saloon serving scoops of absinthe mint chocolate chip ice cream. A trolley, bringing booze-laden ice cream to your very table! The scandal of it.

Wash it all down with a selection of Rare Tea Company teas, or upgrade your booking with a glass of English sparkling wine, Taittinger Brut Reserve or Taittinger Prestige Brut Rosé. Alternatively, be outrageous and treat yourself to a little something from the cocktail menu.

Gluten-free, vegan or children's versions of the menu are available on request too.

Prices for the Regency Afternoon Tea start at £49 per adult/£35 per child. Find out more, peruse the menu and book your table for this truly ravishing experience.
