Londonist Ramadan And Eid Events In London 2026

Ramadan is a worldwide month of of fasting, prayer, reflection and community involvement by the Muslim community, immediately followed by Eid Al Fitr, the 'Holiday of Breaking the Fast'. In 2026, Ramadan is expected to fall on the evening of Tuesday 17 February, ending with Eid Al Fitr on Friday 20 March — though the exact time depends on the sighting of the new crescent moon.

Here's our guide to the big Ramadan and Eid events taking place in London this year.

Ramadan lights, West End

Ramadan lights
Ramadan lights are on show in the West End from until 24 March 2026.

For a fourth year, Coventry Street in the West End is illuminated with Ramadan lights – over 30,000 glowing LED bulbs forming Islamic geometric patterns and the celestial symbols of Ramadan. They're switched on between 5pm-5am from the beginning of Ramadan, through to Tuesday 24 March.

Accompanying events include a Shared Light Exhibition at Zedwell Piccadilly Circus, and an Iftar Food Trail; more details here (click the interactive map at the bottom for details of the food trail).

'And he is with you' three-course dinner (6 Feb)

Shaykh Saad Tasleem and renowned Qari Abdul Wahab offer a 'spiritual and immersive journey' over a three-course dinner at Leyton's Saffron Kitchen, ahead of Ramadan. The event is on behalf of Islamic Relief, with money from your £15 ticket going towards life-saving work in Palestine.

London Muslim Shopping Festival (7-8 February)

Excel London hosts another bonanza London Muslim Shopping Festival, with the world's biggest Ramadan Bazaar selling gifts, perfumes, confectionery, home decor and lots more. Rolled into the event is the Halal Dining Show (feat. scran from the likes of Chicken Bandits, Gully and Komex Kitchen) and the Muslim Travel Show, where you can garner ideas for your next adventure. There's also a Kids Zone, and an Active Sunnah Sports Zone, offering netball, golf, tennis and archery sessions.

Ramadan Souk Tour (8 February)

Free Ramadan arts and crafts, clothing and gifts, workshops, goodie bags, a bouncy castle — plus a BBQ feature in the peripatetic Ramadan Souk Tour, landing at the East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre on 8 February. Great for getting into the Ramadan spirit, and free to attend.

Seeking Laylatul Qadr (13 and 15 March)

Excel London hosts two special Laylatul Qadr ('Night of Power') events, courtesy of Light Upon Light. Each features lectures, Taraweeh (prayer and reflection) and the breaking of the fast with an Iftar meal.

Special iftar menu (17 February-18 March)

An iftar meal

Indian street food slingers Indi-Go Rasoi are doing a special iftar menu from 17 February-18 March, featuring various samosas, naans and curry dishes. There's a meat and a veggie option, with a choice of pistachio or Nutella naan for dessert — plus a selection of drinks to choose from. Find locations here.

1Eid Festival (around 20-22 March)

1Eid — a sizeable festival run by volunteers — is held in Goodmayes Park near Ilford. The dates given for 2026 are 20-22 March, although the festival itself only takes place for two days, contingent on moon sighting.

Expect fireworks, axe/sword throwing, a circus workshop, a petting zoo, boxing — plus stalls selling fashion, decorations, toys, food and more.

A sister festival is hosted in Luton's Wardown Park.

Eid on the Square 2026 (30 May)

Central London's big Eid celebration returns to Trafalgar Square for its 21st year on 30 May 2026, celebrating the festival of Eid al-Adha, otherwise known as the 'Feast of the Sacrifice', itself expected to take place from around 17 May. Though details for 2026's Eid on the Square are yet to be set out, you can expect all manner of singing, dancing, craft and food stalls. A main stage, set up below Nelson's Column, forms the heart of the action.
