There's A Festival Celebrating Deaf And Disabled Artists In London This Weekend

This weekend sees the latest instalment of Liberty — a London festival that celebrates deaf and disabled artists.

Liberty is produced in conjunction with the Mayor's office and the Borough of Culture Waltham Forest, so it's  no surprise that this year's festival takes place in Walthamstow.

One of the festival's highlights is acclaimed artist Nwanzo Ebizie's Distorted Constellations, an art installation inspired by Ebizie's rare neurological disorder Visual Snow. Another top pick is the Deaf Rave club night at the Welcome to the Forest Bar — where there's also a series of workshops on deaf raves. And there's an all-ability cycling workshop in the gorgeous Lloyd Park.

Some have expressed disappointment that this version of Liberty is a scaled back in size and scope when compared to the festival's launch in the mid-2000s.

Liberty takes place 23-24 November 2019. All events are free, but some are ticketed so check the website as you may need to book ahead.
