Here we goat again — the Spitalfields Goat Race returns this year, with tickets available now.

For the uninitiated, the Goat Race is exactly what it sounds like — two of Spitalfields City Farm's goaty residents racing around the cobbled farmyard, while spectators cheer them on.

It's a riff on the Oxford vs. Cambridge Boat Race, and takes place on the same day as the riverine fixture, with one goat to represent each of the universities. But really, what would you rather be watching, a load of floating students, or a pair of goats kidding around? Exactly.

Here's a look at a previous Goat Race:

Entry to Spitalfields City Farm is ticketed on the day, and these usually sell out a few weeks in advance. Line the course to watch the big event, with a live commentary provided over the speakers, and farm staff tempting the participants along with edible treats. Live music, and food stalls are part of the fun too, making for a festival-like atmosphere that continues through the afternoon.

The Oxford Cambridge Goat Race 2020 takes place on Sunday 29 March 2020. Tickets are £17.50 adult/£5 under 16s/£2 under 5s and need to be booked in advance. They usually sell out well in advance of the race.
